Waves and Stripes Square

This square is part of the 2020 MooglyCal – I love participating in this!

This block is called Waves and Stripes – the center wave section has some interesting textures from the crossed double crochet stitches, and the outer striped section is worked around the wave section once it’s complete.

I used three colors of Red Heart With Love – two solids and a multi. You, of course, can use whichever colors work for you!

US terms are used throughout
Finished Size: 12″ square
Materials:
3 shades of worsted weight yarn. Sample was made in Red Heart With Love (100% acrylic), colorways Bluebell (A), Deep Blues (B) and White (C)
Crochet hook size J/9/6.00mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: 11 sts x 6 rows = 4” (10 cm) in dc

Notes: Ch-3 counts as 1 dc, ch-5 counts as 1 dc + ch-2.

When changing colors at the end of the row, make last yo of last st in the new color.

When making the crossed dc, keep the working yarn and hook for the second dc in front of the work so the finished dc lays in front of the first dc and the first dc is not enclosed.
