These bright and happy baskets – with or without the wooden base – will make a great addition to any room in your house where you want to corral some clutter. A tighter than average gauge on this smooth bulky yarn makes sure the sides of the basket stand up and don’t collapse.

Finished Size : Each basket is 8” across at base, 4” tall
Materials: Smooth bulky (CYCA 5 Bulky) in two colors. Model shown in Bernat Maker Home Dec, 1 skein each Sunset Sea Variegated (A) and Gold (B)
Crochet hooks size I/9/5.500mm, J/10/6.00mm, and K/10 1/2/6.50mm for wooden based basket, K/10 1/2/6.50mm only for all crochet basket

Wooden base if desired – 8” round with 48 pre-drilled holes. Both wooden and aluminum basket bases are available in my shop. Free shipping; made in the USA
Optional: NOT SHOWN: If you are worried about the baskets keeping their shape at the top edge you could crochet over some millinery wire for the crab stitch edging
Gauge: 10 sts x 13 rows = 4” in sc with K/10 1/2/6.50mm hook
Pattern notes:
The pattern is written with and without the wooden basket base. I think the base helps it stand up neatly but you can do a crocheted base if you wish.
The basket with the wooden base has sloping sides, the one without has straight sides.

Beg – beginning with
BLO – back loop only
Ch – chain
Rev sc – reverse single crochet, also known as crab stitch
Rnd – round
Sc – single crochet
Sl st – slip Stitch

Basket: Crocheted Bottom
With A and K/10 1/2/6.50mm hook start with a Magic Ring, OR ch 3 and join into a ring with a sl st in the first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring. Place marker in first sc to mark beginning of rnd, move marker up with every subsequent rnd. 6 sc
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. 12 sc
Rnd 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 6 times. 18 sc
Rnd 4: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc) 6 times. 24 sc
Rnd 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc) 6 times. 30 sc
Rnds 6 – 11: Rep Rnd 5 adding 1 sc between increases on each subsequent rnd. 66 sc after Rnd 11
Rnd 12: ScBLO in each sc around.
Rnds 13 – 21: Sc in each sc around.
Rnds 22 – 23: With B, sc in each sc around.
Rnd 24: With B, work 1 rnd crab stitch/reverse single crochet. End off.

Rnd 1: With A and I/9/5.500mm hook, beginning in any hole and a slip knot on your hook, (2 sc in next hole, sc in each of next 7 holes) 6 times. Place marker to note beg of rnd. 54 sc
Rnd 2: ScBLO in each sc around.
Rnd 3: With J/10/6.00mm hook, sc in each sc around.
Rnds 4 – 11: With K/10 1/2/6.50mm hook sc in each sc around.
Rnds 12 – 14: Rep Rnds 22 – 24 of Basket: Crocheted Bottom. End off.
Finishing: Weave in ends.
