Crochet hook size 4.5mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Locking stitch marker
Gauge: 16 sts x 17 rows = 4” in lemon peel st

dc – double crochet
rnd – round
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Preemie Hat
Begin with a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring. Place marker in last st and move it up for each subsequent rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc, dc) in each of first 11 sc, sc in last sc. (23 sts)
Rnd 4: *Dc in next sc, sc in next dc. Rep from * around to last st, dc in last sc.
Rnd 5: [(Sc, dc) in each of next 2 sts, sc in next dc, dc in next sc] 6 times, noting last rep will not have the final st. (35 sts)
Rnd 6: *Dc in next sc, sc in next dc. Rep from * around to last sc, dc in last sc.
Rnd 7: *Sc in next dc, dc in next sc. Rep from * around to last dc, sc in last dc.
Rnds 8 – 13: Rep Rnds 6 – 7 three times
Border: Work 3 rnds sc in each st around. Join final rnd with sl st in first st. End off.
