Approx 45g/88yds worsted weight in two colors – 35g/67yds color A and 10g/21yds color B. Model shown in Patons Classic Wool Worsted (100%wool/100g/194 yds) in Pine (A) and Winter White (B)

Tunisian crochet hook size K/10 1/2/6.5mm or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 16 sts x 12 rows = 4” in pattern stitch

Pattern Notes:

All Tunisian rows take a Standard Return, which is ch 1, *yo, draw through 2 loops on hook. Rep from * until 1 loop remains on hook.

Only Forward passes of each row are written out.

On Return passes with more than one color, use the color that matches the next loop on the hook.

Special Stitch:

TCR – Tunisian Crossed Stitch – on the forward pass, skip 1 vertical bar, pick up in next vertical bar as if to TSS, pick up in skipped vertical bar as if to TSS.

Beg – beginning with

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Rnd – round

Sl st – slip stitch

TCR – Tunisian Crossed Stitch

Tr – treble crochet

TSS – Tunisian Simple Stitch

With A, ch 24.

Rows 1 – 2: TSS.

Row 3: With A, 2 TSS, *with B, 2 TSS, with A, 2 TSS. Rep from * across.

Row 4: With A, 2 TSS, *TCR, 2 TSS. Rep from * across.

Row 5: With A, 4 TSS, *with B 2 TSS, with A, 2 TSS. Rep from * across, with A, 2 TSS.

Rows 7 – 16: Rep Rows 3 – 6 twice then Rows 3 – 4 once more.

Row 17: With A, TSS. Do not end off.

Note: I used dc for my edging round to get to 8” – check your gauge and if you need to adjust you can go down to sc or hdc, or up to tr.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 2 dc in corner, dc in each dc around placing stitches at the top through the vertical bars as if to TSS, on the sides at the rate of one dc for each row, and at the bottom in the opposite side of each foundation chain, working 5 dc in each corner. When you reach the beginning of the round, place 2 more dc in the same sp as the first 3 dc, join rnd with sl st in top of beg-ch-3.

Rnd 2: Sl st in each dc around. Join rnd with sl st in first sl st. Fasten off.

Weave in ends.
